Gel Nails vs Shellac: What Should You Book?
A practical guide to choosing between Classic Shellac Manicure, New Set Gel, and Gel Refill without overbooking or underbooking your appointment.
Choose Shellac when you want polish, not structure.
Classic Shellac Manicure is best when your natural nails are already in good condition and you want colour, shine, clean preparation, and a polished everyday finish. It does not create length or rebuild the nail in the same way a gel set does.
Choose New Set Gel when you want shape, length, or new structure.
New Set Gel is the better choice when you want controlled length, a complete new set, or structure that supports the nail. The appointment includes preparation, shaping, balance, and gel colour, so the result feels finished rather than simply painted.
Choose Gel Refill when the existing structure is worth keeping.
If you already have a gel set, a refill can rebalance growth, refine the shape, refresh the structure, and finish with new colour. If the existing work is too lifted, damaged, or uneven, removal or correction may be needed first.
When to ask before booking.
If you are unsure whether your existing gel can be refilled, or if you want French, glazed, Baby Boomer, nail art, or bridal details, contact the atelier before booking so the right time can be reserved.
